Is Gathering Silence religious?

In a word, no! and, as a result, I am confident these evenings can comfortably sit along side any beliefs you may or may not have. I do often quote spiritual thinkers and poets in the reflection time but they are not specific to any one school of thought. 

 

Are you a meditation teacher?

I don’t call myself a teacher, but what I can do is to facilitate, guide and hold a safe space for those attending the gathering. We are all part of the experience together. 

 

Who is this for?

Gathering Silence is for anyone over 18.  We celebrate the diversity of all experiences around religion, race, age, class, ability, sexual orientation and gender assigned at birth.

I have never meditated before, can I come?

Yes absolutely! In fact this is the perfect gentle introduction to exploring meditation and how you might be able to incorporate it into your daily life. This group is for everyone - complete beginners (which technically we all are!) as well as those that might already have dipped their toes in. 

 

Is this a support group? 

Although there is a section at the end of each gathering for sharing and we all support and respect each other in this, Gathering Silence is not a support group. 

I am not a qualified therapist and therefore cannot offer specific guidance to any participants. 

In our sharing time we do not offer advice to each other, we listen and allow each other to voice our thoughts without response. Sometimes it is just nice to be able to say how we are feeling without anyone trying to “fix” that.

 

How many people will be there? 

It’s really important to me that the gatherings feel intimate and safe, and so the maximum number will always be 12.

I can’t afford the price, is there a way I can still come? 

I will reserve one place at each of the gatherings which can be booked at a discounted rate. If you would like to come but aren’t in a position to pay the full price right now, please email me and let me know.
